MWN -- Hey Everybody! MWN! has gotten the
opportunity to jump into an interview with the owner of Rapid Pro Wrestling. As reported on the site, RPW is returning to
Grand Rapids, MI on October 5th at the Rivertown Sports Complex. Check the main page and click the RPW Flyer (the one on the
farthest right) for more information on the show!
Thank you for taking the time to talk to us. How are you?
RPW Owner -- Fantastic, Thank You!
MWN
-- Rapid Pro Wrestling is running on October 5th, as mentioned earlier. The first time in about three years, if I'm correct.
Just to start off, could you give us a little bit on the companies history before we get into the more recent show?
RPW
Owner -- To be quite honest the history of Rapid Pro Wrestling isn't very rich. We've used talented young indy stars,
but have only had the opportunity to run a handful of shows. We are based out of Grand Rapids, MI and ran our first show in
2005. The shows since then have been few and far in between. We've always used a main group of guys, mainly local talent!
MWN
-- Does RPW plan on running a little more consistantly at this point? Are any shows scheduled or is that something that isn't
concrete yet?
RPW Owner -- As of right now, the plan is to get through this first show back.
We do have plans to run more consistantly once we get the ball rolling. We are looking to secure a date sometime in middle
to late November for our next show!
MWN -- No matter what the future holds, it appears that
you aren't taking THIS show lightly at all. Many wrestling promotions seem to find money for a show, announce the show, and
run with it. RPW has taken a route that isn't always seen. You've booked catering for the show, an after party and you've
found yourself many sponsors. You're obviously taking this very seriously.
RPW Owner -- Lets
just say we have our reasons for wanting this show to be big! We've worked hard and will continue to work hard for hopefully
many shows to come! Everything seems to be coming together nicely so far. We have a lot of surprises planned that you might
not expect from your average indy wrestling show! Not to mention we have tons of stuff to give away to the fans to show our
appreciation for their support!
MWN -- Tons of stuff to give away to fans? Anything you're willing
to spill to us or are you keeping it a surprise until the show?
RPW Owner -- We'll just keep
that as a surprise until the show.
MWN -- Ah ha! I don't think you're going to have a difficult
time finding fans to give things away to. Grand Rapids, Michigan is one of the biggest cities in Michigan.
Grand Rapids
has not been empty to shows as of late. What is going to differentiate you from the shows already being held? If fans had
a choice, why should they choose RPW?
RPW Owner -- I think fans will choose RPW over the other
alternative in town once they see our product. The key is getting those fans to give us a chance. The fans will get a better
atmosphere and better lineup of talent with RPW. Our over all production will just flat out be better. The competition is
the main reason we started RPW back up. We intend to give the city of Grand Rapids what they deserve out of a wrestling show!
MWN
-- And part of delivering that wrestling show will be enhanced with the wide array of talent you use.
Not only are you
using local talent, you are using some up-and-comers and some more established wrestlers.
You've got men who've been on
national television such as Josh Raymond, a former member of MTV's Wrestling Society X.
You've got other men who have
gotten a lot of exposure through Ian Rotten's IWA-MS such as Christin Able, Bryan Skyline, and again Josh Raymond.
You've
got, again, Able and Skyline who are rising stars that've more recently broken into the business.
Wrestlers such as "Old
Timer" Jeff King, Frankie The Face, and "All Nite" Adam Renolds, not to mention Jimmy Shalwin, The Gameboy, Magnum Conroy,
Steve Amani, Main St. Youth, The Kosher Klub, among others. What made you select these wrestlers that you've chosen?
RPW
Owner -- We've selected the best talent we could get which just so happens to be some of the best guys in the state.
We have our established guys like Josh Raymond who has been on TV both in the US and Mexico. Then we have your veterans like
Frankie "The Face" and Jimmy Shalwin. You also have a ton of experience in guys like Jeff King, Magnum Conroy, Adam Renolds,
and "Gameboy" Max Morrison who have been wrestling for years. We have some younger talent also. We thought that this group
of guys would be a good start. We also plan on showcasing some of the talent in other areas of the state and country!
MWN
-- Just a couple more things for this interview. What made you choose Frankie The Face vs Christin Able as your main event?
RPW
Owner -- There is a natural chemstry there! I've seen them wrestle numerous times and they have performed extrordinary
everytime. Christin Able is a guy that many fans of wrestling might not see coming! He's young, but he's got the tools. He's
gonna be something special in this business as he gains experience! Frankie is the godfather of Grand Rapids when it comes
to wrestling. He trained most of the top seasoned West Michigan talent that you see all over the country! You put those 2
together and you can't call it anything but a Main Event!
MWN -- Any updated news on Jimmy Jacobs
doing commentary?
RPW Owner -- We are close to sealing
a deal with local TV and when that is confirmed we will take the apprpriate steps to make that a reality. I can confirm that
Jimmy Jacobs will be in attendance reguardless and will be involved with the show in some fashion!
MWN -- Since you're in talks with local
TV stations, will a DVD be made for this return?
RPW Owner -- We are looking into that
as well. We are in negotiations with a few different resources but nothing is confirmed yet!
MWN -- Let's hope you find a way to secure
that. Any final comments before we wrap this up?
RPW Owner -- Yeah, if your in the Grand
Rapids area on October 5th, come check out RPW's return show and witness indie wrestling the way it's suppose to be!!
MWN -- Honestly, even if you AREN'T
in the Grand Rapids area on that date it might be smart to find your way to the show! Thank You RPW and management for allowing
us the interview. Check out Rapid Pro Wrestling on October 5th and check for more info on the main page!
